ISLAMIC, Mongols. Great Khans. Uncertain rulers, AD 1230s-1260s. Dirham (Silver, 18 mm, 1.39 g), contemporary imitation of the Pulad mint(?). Within two concentric circles, the double-trident tamgha of Möngke; around, illegible stylized legend containing the Kalima. Rev. Stylized legend beginning with ‘ḍuriba hādh/ā al-dirham bi sikka / …’ (‘This dirham was struck with the die of …’ in Arabic); around, illegible stylized legend containing the date. Album S1979. Rare. Somewhat clipped and with scratches, otherwise, very fine.
